Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that removes the upper layer of dead skin cells from the face, chest and hands by a technique called mechanical abrasion. Microdermabrasion lessens the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, enlarged pores, and coarse skin.

Microdermabrasion treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes to perform and has been nicknamed the "lunchtime peel” due to it little or no recovery time. Microdermabrasion uses a powerful device to spray microcrystals of very fine, hard sand-like aluminum dioxide onto the skin’s surface. This technique blasts away the uppermost layer of dead skin cells on the skin's epidermis, exposing the skin beneath and promoting the growth of new, fresh skin and stimulating the production of collagen.
